Helena National Park

Just shy of a one-hour drive from Claravale, Helena National Park is situated 25km south east of Kalamunda, making it a straightforward drive off Brookton Highway (route 40). This National Park offers lots of things to do and see, and you’ll be keen to climb and take photos of the beautiful vistas. A must-do when visiting the park is to head for Mount Dale, which leads to one of the highest points in the Darling Scarp. To reach this spot, turn off Brookton Highway, take Ashendon Road and after about 5km, you’ll find Mount Dale Road. After about 13km, you’ll reach the lookout. Both these roads are unsealed with two wide lanes, so any car should be fine tackling the trip. Get your cameras ready because you’ll be rewarded with an exceptional 360-degree view of endless trees and natural surroundings. It’s a beautiful spot to take a few minutes and discover something so beautiful which perhaps you didn’t know was so close to home.

There are walking trails which are helpfully signed, picnic tables and clean campsites. Whether you want to challenge yourself with an energetic hike or simply would like to get in touch with nature and admire the local flora and fauna while enjoying a picnic, this is one to add to the list.
