Once again, the school holidays have rolled around and it’s time to brainstorm some ways
to keep the kids occupied without breaking the bank.

Considering you may be settling into your new home, there’s no better time to make the
most of your new abode and create some memories in this new setting.

From cutting to painting, we have some fantastic craft ideas to keep the kids off their
devices while stretching their creative muscles. Plus, you will have some special keepsakes
to display around your new Claravale home.

No Sew Sock Animal

After the move you may have come across some mismatched socks…instead of throwing
them out or wasting time finding their pair, put them to use with this activity! This project is
relatively simple and suitable for any age group, and the materials required can be
purchased at any store. Using a pair of socks, stuffing, googly eyes, piping and sewing
stuffing, you’ll have a new animal to join the home.

Mini Rock Cactus Project

Painting rocks has been a popular trend over the last years for many reasons; it’s easy,
inexpensive and provides a smooth surface to paint on.
To do this craft we recommend picking out multiple rocks of different sizes and shapes, and
purchasing green and white paint. Small pebbles can also be added into a small pot to make
the cactus look real. Use your creativity and come up with your own garden…indoors!

Gumnut Sailing Boat

This gorgeous sailing boat project can be made from gumnuts and branches from your local
park, or more conveniently, cardboard from those packaging boxes. All you have to do is cut
the gumnut in half, glue a small branch into the gumnut, cut two small triangles in the fabric
of your choice and glue these onto the branch. Depending on whether you want to place it
on a shelf or have it hanging, you can also attach some string and add this hanging element.

DIY Salt Dough Dinosaur Fossils
Using ingredients from your cupboard, lets go old school and bring this popular activity to
your own kitchen. Using the toys of your little ones and some pantry ingredients, this is a
messy but fun educational activity where the whole family can learn about the evolution of
dinosaurs. Follow these steps to bring your fossils to life:
