Mother’s Day - it’s the special time of the year when we celebrate and honour motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. This year Mother’s Day falls on Sunday May 14, and we have prepared some ideas on how to spend the day, Claravale-style.
Morning Appreciation
There is nothing sweeter than waking up to a surprise from your loved ones on Mother’s Day. This doesn’t need to be an over-the-top grand gesture. A thoughtful act of kindness, such as preparing breakfast in bed, is a perfect way to show your appreciation for the lovely lady in your life. If you want to take it one step further, setting the breakfast table and turning your home into a dine-in restaurant would win you extra brownie points. After breakfast, why not venture into town and grab a take-away coffee and stroll around Forrestdale Lake Circuit?
Gifts & Cards
However you choose to spoil your loved one on this special day is up to you. If you’re stuck for ideas, don’t over-complicate it. A simple card from the news agency or post office with a hand-written note is a great place to start. A simple message which makes clear your gratitude and appreciation will go a long way in winning Mum’s heart. If you’re a crafty person, DIY gifts are an affordable way to show your love. Some of our favourite ideas include creating a photo album with personalised messages and images over your time together, flower bouquets, a box with all her favourite snacks and treats, or ‘favour’ vouchers to redeem at any time, such as a cup of tea, massage, date night and so on. If you’d like to buy a gift, living in Claravale means you’re conveniently located to Haynes Shopping centre and only 15 minutes from Cockburn Central Shopping Centre, which has a huge range of retail and specialty stores.
Activities
Surrounded by nature, Claravale is the perfect place for a picnic with the family on this special occasion. As the weather can be cooler this time of year, rug up and make a cosy set-up on the grass area at Shipwreck Park in the afternoon. It’s got everything you need from a kids playground, to toilets and an undercover area with BBQs. Outside the gates, there is also a turfed area for sports and an enclosed off-leash dog park if you fancy making a whole day of it.
However you choose to spend Mother’s Day this year, you won’t be stuck for ideas in Claravale. We’d love to hear what you get up to. For more information about life at Claravale click here.
