DIY Halloween Costume Ideas

Halloween has a tendency to creep up on us, and we frequently find ourselves rushing to put a costume together at the last minute. Life gets busy, so we’re always on the lookout for easy ideas that anyone can tackle, especially using items we already have at home.

Here’s some of our top, easy costume ideas to help get you ready for spooky season.


Ghost
If you happen to have a spare sheet lying around, it makes for an ideal DIY costume. Simply make eye and mouth openings by cutting holes in it and outline these areas with a black marker for added effect. Or, just added sunglasses. Don’t forget some holes for your arms too!

Barbie or Ken
Jump on the latest Barbie trend and consider dressing up as either Barbie or Ken. All you need to do is raid your closet for any pink clothing you’ve got, throw on some white sneakers or heels, add heart shaped glasses, and tie a pink ribbon in your hair for that perfect Barbie look. If you’re learning towards Ken, just grab some light denim jeans and a denim vest or jacket- that’ll work just fine.


Wednesday Addams from ‘Wednesday’
Here’s a simple yet eerie costume idea. All you require is a black blazer (if it’s striped, that’s even better), a black dress or skirt, a collared shirt, black shoes, and knee-high black socks. Pull your hair into 2 pigtail braids and you’re all done! Carry a black book as a prop for bonus points.

Witch
This costume is a timeless and classic look. Just reach for your go-to black dress, slip on some black tights and shoes and you’re set. To enhance the look, apply a touch of black eyeshadow. As for your ride, simply grab a broom from around the house.

Mummy
Super scary and super easy, Mummy costumes are a classic. The best thing is you can put it together with things you have lying around the house. Simply grab some old white sheets, bandages or shirts white shirts and follow these steps.
